Junior & Mini Tennis Players - Welcome to your own Newsletter
All things relating to junior and mini tennis will now appear in this separate Newsletter - so if you are under 16 (or a parent of an under 16!), this is for you. It would be great to include news and contributions (relating to tennis, table tennis or netball) from any junior/mini tennis players - just email your piece for inclusion to Sarah (secretary@cheritontennisclub.co.uk) and if suitable it will be included in the next edition of the newsletter.

MINI TENNIS LTA TOURNAMENTS
Cheriton are hosting their first 2 official Ariel Mini Tennis Open Tournaments this season - with a MT Orange Open Tournament on Friday 26th October, and a MT Green Open Tournament on Friday 22nd February. These are open to Cheriton players as well as players throughout Hampshire. There are also a large number of Red, Orange and Green tournaments being run at other local clubs. Please let Sarah or Bash know if you are interested in playing in any of these tournaments (you just need to be able to play a tie-break match at your level). Further details and entry forms in the clubhouse in the LTA Winter Competitions booklet. |

NEW JUNIOR CLUB LADDER
Join the new Junior Club Ladder now - just send an email to Sarah to say you wish to join. Open to all juniors who can play a set of tennis on a full court. Don't just hit tennis balls, play competitive tennis and have fun playing short matches against other players in the club. At the end of the season (March) there will be a prize for the winner, runner-up and player who has played the most matches in the ladder.
How does the ladder work? Once there are enough players entered, a ladder list will go up in the clubhouse (and website). Players can then challenge any player to a match if they are up to 3 places ahead or behind them in the ladder. If they win the match against a player higher in the ladder, then they swap places. You can play your 1 set (first to 6 games) matches whenever you like (including junior club nights if nobody's waiting to play) and you will then have to email your score to Sarah who will update the website version of the ladder and you can update the clubhouse version. Email Sarah now and put your name down for the Junior Ladder. |

JUNIOR CLUB NIGHTS - Fridays 5.45-7pm
If you are aged between 9 -15 years, come along to play games/matches against other juniors on Friday nights (supervised by a coach but no coaching). It's free, and fun. You could play one of your junior ladder matches too if there is a court free and your opponent is willing. See you there on Fridays. |
GROUP TENNIS COACHING - AUTUMN TERM
The list of players in the various coaching groups is now posted up in the clubhouse. If you missed out this time and would like to join a coaching group after half-term, please let Bash or Sarah know. |
 |
CLUB SHOP
Don't forget you can buy Cheriton Tennis Club Mini Tennis T-Shirts, and Red, Orange and Green tennis balls, from the Club Shop as well as other gear. See shop poster in clubhouse/website and ask Sarah or Bash if you wish to buy anything. |
CANCELLED EVENT - 30TH SEPTEMBER
The committee has decided to cancel the re-scheduled, formal club opening event planned for 30th September (having been cancelled early in the summer due to the marquee falling down). The present plan is to hold a 1st Birthday celebration for the club instead next summer - if you have any ideas, put a note in the suggestions box.
|
If you have any comments or suggestions relating to your club, please talk to a committee member or coach or put a note in the suggestions box. Thanks, and have fun playing tennis.
