at Cheriton Tennis Club
TOURNAMENTS & COMPETITIONS for
JUNIORS & MINI TENNIS PLAYERS - SUMMER 2008
Get ready, get fit, get practising – for lots of competitions and fun play this Summer. Don’t just do the coaching, play the game too!
All Mini Tennis and Junior players (with help from their parents) are encouraged to play competitions as regularly as possible - lots of play and competition is great fun; inspires players to learn more from their coaching; improves players tennis more quickly. All competitions and tournaments at the club, with the exception of the ladder, are open to members and non-members so please bring your tennis playing friends (from other clubs, or clubless) and encourage others to join in. The more the merrier. Those playing for their club in LTA matches and tournaments, will receive a club T-shirt to wear.
Competitions & Fun Play on offer this Summer:
- Competition Play - Junior clubnight – instead of competition Saturdays which were not well attended, we will run more competition play on Junior clubnights for all who come along and want to play some friendly matches. Look forward to seeing you 6-7pm on Friday junor clubnights during term-time (coach present to supervise and run).
- Junior & Mini Tennis Club Ladder – new rules (full details HERE)
- Fundays and Club Tournaments at the club (see Events 2008)
- Hampshire Clash of the Clubs– a new LTA initiative, where clubs take a team to a tennis festival and play other club teams. We hope to enter Cheriton teams in these events (full details to follow soon HERE)
- Junior LTA League Teams – we have entered 2 junior teams in the Summer LTA leagues, to play other local club teams. We have Cheriton 12&Under (Cheriton Chargers) and 14&Under (Cheriton Cavaliers) teams entered - if you would like to be part of these team squads please contact Sarah for 'Cheriton Chargers' and Brett for 'Cheriton Cavaliers. - LTA Mini Tennis and Junior Open Tournaments – hosted by local tennis clubs, and part of the Hampshire LTA programme. Players must be members of British Tennis to play in these tournaments but they are open to any level of play, so if you can serve and play points, do join in. See LTA booklets in clubhouse soon for full details and entry forms. Timetable below includes nearest events, and those Cheriton players are likely to be entering.

NEW - Junior & Mini Tennis Club Ladder Competition -
this is a great opportunity to play others at your own level within the club, to meet new friends, and to introduce competition into your tennis. See Ladder Competition Page. You can join the ladder anytime you like - just email the club secretary (Sarah) if you would like to be added to the ladder (you will join at the bottom!).
Junior & Mini Tennis at Cheriton: Mini Tennis and Juniors are a particular focus for the new club and the coaches will help to develop progressive mini tennis and junior programmes, offering pathways of coaching and competition play from beginner level juniors through to juniors at performance level.
Courses & Group Coaching: Details of coaching programmes for Juniors and Mini Tennis Players (and adults) are included HERE and, avaiable in the clubhouse.
Club Sessions: Details of all club sessions and group coaching can be found on the 'Timetable' page. If there are particular sessions you would like to see included on the Timetable (for adults or juniors) please email the club coaches with your requests and they will try to include these where possible.
Private Coaching : for individuals or small groups is available from either coach.
