Cheriton Tennis Club's Charity
The committee voted to make 'Get Kids Going' our club charity. This charity was introduced to us by Wheelchair Tennis No 1 Peter Norfolk, and we have sinced raised money for Get Kids Going at our annual Around Villages Charity Tournament in July. We plan to hold an annual charity tournament of this kind, plus other charity events if we can throughout the year in support of Get Kids Going.
Get Kids Going is a national charity which gives disabled children and young people the wonderful opportunity of participating in sport. They provide specially built sports' wheelchairs, so children can do marathons, triathlons, tennis, athlectics, skiing, rugby, sailing, water skiing, basketball and many other sports. The costs of a sports wheelchair is about £3,200. Over 200,000 children in Britian need the help of Get Kids Going. More details on their website here - www.getkidsgoing.com .

Cheriton Tennis Club Fundraising, Local Donations and Support
For 18 months Cheriton Tennis Club has been raising funds locally for the new tennis club facilities. The local community has been extremely generous with their time and money, supporting various fundraising events including: Around Villages American Tennis Tournament; Table Tennis in the Barn Extravaganza; Family Lawn Tennis Tournament; Sizzling September Ball. Our local donations appeal also raised £3,000 towards the project.
The Tennis Club are also very grateful to the Friends of Cheriton Primary School who raised £6,000 towards the new facilities.
